Can I use StrataSearch for non-U.S. markets?
Yes. StrataSearch can import prices from a wide variety of pricing services. While a number of pricing services are directly supported, StrataSearch can also import prices from the common MetaStock format as well as a large variety of ASCII text formats. If you're not able to find a pricing service that supports prices for your own market, let us know and we may be able to offer some options.
What products does StrataSearch support?
StrataSearch directly supports Equities (including Indices and ETFs), Mutual Funds, Futures and Forex. A large number of other products can be used in StrataSearch through the use of these 4 basic categories.
Does StrataSearch support realtime processing?
Sorry, but no. StrataSearch currently supports end-of-day prices only. We have many great plans for the future of StrataSearch, of which realtime processing is just one. But we're looking forward to adding realtime support at some point in the future.
What operating systems are supported?
StrataSearch is built for Microsoft Windows operating systems only, and can be used on Windows 2000 or higher. This includes all 32-bit Windows XP and Vista versions. While we have a number of users running on 64-bit Vista, other users have experienced problems with this OS. We'll be running tests on 64-bit machines in the near future, and will resolve any compatibility issues at that time.
What are the machine requirements?
Due to the heavy demands StrataSearch places on a computer, a faster operating system is always a benefit. Multiple-cores in particular can greatly increase the processing speed. However, for standard processing, 1GB of RAM is recommended as well as 1GB of available disk space. 1024 x 768 screen resolution is also required.
Does StrataSearch support multiple processors?
Yes. StrataSearch can take advantage of as many processors as your computer has available, and has throttling capabilities so you can slow StrataSearch down if needed. The benefit of multiple processors is dependant on the type of system being evaluated, with larger sectors receiving the greatest performance benefits.
Can you extend my trial period another week?
Sorry, but no. The StrataSearch Version 4.0 Trial can only be run once on a computer, and it cannot be reset or extended. If you have a second computer available, however, you are more than welcome to run the trial on that machine.
Can I run StrataSearch on both my desktop and laptop?
StrataSearch is unique in that the automated search allows multiple installations to be used simultaneously by a single user. This is different than most software programs, where a single user can only benefit from one installation at a time. Because of this, a StrataSearch License is valid for one machine only. However, after an initial purchase, up to 5 additional licenses can be purchased at a 50% discount.
Can I transfer my license after buying a new computer?
Yes. To prevent abuse, we offer this at our discretion and we request that transfers not be made at a rate of more than once per 6-month period. In the 5 years StrataSearch has been available to the public, we have never had a problem and have never denied a transfer request.
